How this site works, and what it is not

Where this comes from

This site grew out of a residential fire sprinkler business in Maryland, one of the other places with a statewide home sprinkler rule. The questions there turned out to be the same ones people search for in California: what does it cost, does my ADU need them, does my remodel trigger them, who looks at the system already in my ceiling. The Maryland experience is where the cost ranges on this site come from, and we say so wherever we use them.

Why a referral and not a contractor

California requires a C-16 fire protection license to contract sprinkler work, and this site does not hold one. So the honest structure is a referral: we do the explaining, a licensed contractor does the work. When you send the form, your request goes to one installer who covers your area. They call you, quote the job on their own paper, hold the contract, and pull the permit. You can verify their license at cslb.ca.gov before you sign. If the fit is wrong, tell us and we find another.

What we will not do

• Quote a price. Only the licensed contractor does that.
• Print a remodel threshold, permit fee, or statistic we cannot cite.
• Send your details to a list of bidders.
• Claim a license, a crew, or a job we did not do.

What the installer pays

The installer, not the homeowner, pays for the referral. That is disclosed here so you can weigh it. It does not change your quote, which comes from them and only them.
